Shoes and Panties

Here are the shoes and panties I made to match McKenna's blessing dress (see Blessing Day Items). The little shoes are so cute. I want to make a million pairs just like my sister-in-law Melanie did and does (thanks for sharing the idea with me Mel!).

Shadow Boxes

Time to show more of Nate's talent. For Valentine's Day, Nate and I have a rule that you can't spend money on our gifts to each other. This year, Nate made these shadow boxes for me:

He is going to make one or two more to go with them. They are really nice. I love how this second one has a separate "compartment" for my willow tree figure.

Wood Shelf

We got a video monitor for McKenna (one of my absolute favorite baby items by the way!). We didn't know where to put the monitor in her room. This spot was the best to be able to see the whole crib...but there was nothing there.

So Nate made a shelf. Not only that, it is a flower. He did a really nice job and put more effort into it than he needed to, but that is Nate :)

Bracelets

While I am in a slow-down of crafting things (since I have a newborn), I thought I would get up the last of the jewelry I have made. Here are the last of the bracelets--until I make more!

Car Seat Cover

My friend Serra had a baby several months ago. She had this carseat cover, which I thought was awesome. I have always covered my babies with an afghan from my Grandmother. The problem with that is that it often falls off, and I view the afghan as an heirloom. Plus, she passed away close to two years ago, so McKenna wasn't going to have one. This was an awesome solution. I borrowed Serra's for a pattern and got to work.

It is really simple. It is two different fabrics (though it doesn't have to be). You then have your two Velcro tabs, put a bow on those for "cuteness", and you are done! The edges are serged with a roll hem. I could not for the life of me find my serger manual, so my mother-in-law was nice enough to do that for me (I found my manual today though--yeah!).

Here it is in practice. It is great because it doesn't fall off. Also, you can still hold the handle.

Then you just lift it up when you want to see baby.
I seriously love this thing.

The Nursery

Here is McKenna's room all put together.

Here we have the decoupaged letters, the memory board, and the runner for the dresser. This is the wall we painted brown for our accent wall. We also textured and painted the ceiling (it was tan) and changed the light from a fluorescent light to two light fixtures and a ceiling fan.

Here you can see the crib with bumpers and a bedskirt.

Here you can see the runner for the nightstand, the lamp shade we changed, the decoupaged mirror, the quilt, and the pillow. You can also see the nightstand. This was an ugly brown. Nate painted about a million coats on it to get it just right. He also changed the knob. It is really cute now.

Here you can see the curtains. You can also see the window cover for the half-circle window. Nate made this out of wood then covered it with fabric. It can be removed to let light in. These are new windows we installed (by "we" I mean Nate). We also bought new blinds.

Here you can see the diaper stacker and basket liners. We also painted the flower holding the diaper stacker to match the room. It was just rough wood.

There you have it! We love this little room for McKenna. It is cozy and quiet and beautiful. It took a lot of work, but it was all worth it.
